Gary Compton has decades of experience in federal and state regulatory and legislative matters. He has been counsel and lobbyist to energy magnate T. Boone Pickens for over twenty-five years, and has served as Mr. Pickens's point of contact in Washington, DC. Gary represents corporations, major utilities, pipelines, oil and gas producers, and alternative and renewable energy companies. He has repeatedly been named to The Best Lawyers in America® by Woodward/White Inc., and is known as a prolific fundraiser for Republicans.
Gary has practiced before the United States Congress, The White House, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Interior, Texas Railroad Commission, Texas General Land Office, and various other regulatory agencies.
Gary's experience includes serving as Special Counsel to the Texas Railroad Commission (the State of Texas's energy regulating body), including participation on the Special Advisory Council for the Blue Ribbon Natural Gas Rules Committee, and acting as Special General Counsel to the Chairman’s Committee on Natural Gas Marketing. Gary was appointed by three different Texas governors to serve on the Interstate Oil & Gas Compact Commission. He was a briefing attorney for the Seventh Court of Appeals of Texas, and also participated in The White House Intern Program under President Lyndon B. Johnson.
Gary received his Juris Doctor from Baylor University School of Law and his Bachelors degree from Texas Tech University.
